Alpha+ Zirconia Blocks Veneer Clinical Application Case Sharing

We recently received a successful case shared by a client: using an Alpha+ zirconia Blank to create anterior veneers for a patient, ultimately achieving a perfect unity of aesthetics and function. Throughout the fabrication and clinical application process, Kyozir Alpha+ Zirconia Disc demonstrated outstanding comprehensive performance, specifically as follows:

I. High Translucency and Multi-Layer Gradients for Natural Aesthetic Results

Alpha+ Zirconia Block has a translucency of 42%-49%. Due to its high cubic phase content and low light scattering, it achieves a semi-transparent appearance close to natural tooth enamel, making it suitable for anterior tooth restorations. Combined with 11-layer color gradient technology, it can precisely simulate the natural color transition from the cervical region to the incisal edge, avoiding a "fake white" or "dull" look and significantly improving aesthetic realism.

II. High Strength Guarantee, Strong Resistance to Porcelain Chipping

Kyozir Alpha+ Zirconia Blank has a strength of 800–1350 MPa, far exceeding that of glass-ceramic veneers (such as e.max, approximately 360–400 MPa). This means that: full anatomical veneers can be made (without the need for decorative porcelain), fundamentally avoiding the risk of "porcelain chipping"; even if the veneer is thin (as low as 0.2–0.3 mm), it can maintain structural integrity and achieve minimally invasive repair.

III. Excellent Biocompatibility for Long-Term Periodontal Health

Alpha+ Zirconia Block is made of pure ceramic, containing no metal components. No allergic reactions have been reported in clinical use, and long-term wear will not cause black lines on the gums. Its dense and smooth surface has a low plaque adhesion rate. Combined with good oral hygiene habits, it helps maintain healthy gum margins and ensures long-term stability.

IV. Excellent Color-masking Ability, Suitable for Severely Discolored Teeth

The zirconia block itself has stronger color-masking properties than glass ceramics. Studies show that only 0.6 mm of zirconia is needed to cover tetracycline-stained teeth, while silicon-based and lithium-based ceramics require 1.2–1.6 mm. This means that zirconia veneers can effectively cover dark-colored abutment teeth with less tooth preparation, protecting pulp vitality.
